EDUCATION

Jesus told his followers to teach (and learn) all that he commanded. At Christ Lutheran Church, opportunities to teach (and learn) are offered to children, youth, and adults to grow in their faith. Through Bible studies, book forums, confirmation (for youth), Communion classes, Lutheranism 101, and Sunday School (for children), our faith and relationship with God grows. 

Sunday School


At CLC, children begin in the sanctuary with their parents and grandparents which builds community and spiritual family. After the children’s message (yes, there’s a message geared specifically to the children every Sunday), those who wish to participate in Sunday School are dismissed to their classes (those who wish to remain with their family in the sanctuary are welcome to do so.) Sunday School is a time of lessons, activities, and fun as children learn about God’s love for us through Jesus.


Confirmation


When youth enter 6th to 8th grades, they are invited to participate in Confirmation classes. Confirmation is a time when faith formation and spiritual growth are critically important (especially when the world is pulling youth in ways that are very attractive, but not very Godly.) Our confirmation program is a two-year program that prepares Confirmands to live knowing that God is with them … always.


Sunday School

(4 years old to 6th Grade)

Wednesday Morning Bible Study



Held on Wednesday morning from

10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., this Bible Study reads and discusses the upcoming Sunday’s readings. Lead by a team of wonderful lay leaders, the discussion is lively, inspired, and in-depth as the word of God is revealed. Pastor Keith often drops in to hear the conversations, and (sometimes) offers a preview of where Sunday’s message is heading. It is a wonderful time exploring God’s message for us.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study


Held during the school program year, this Bible Study focuses on a variety of topics. Beginning in September 2026, the focus will be on select parables told by Jesus to help us understand God’s way of doing business here on earth. We’ll read and discuss the parables through the lens of the 21st century, then hear and discuss how the original hearers (and early 1st century readers) would have interpretated Jesus’ parables. It will be a wonderful time of exploration and discussion as we hear Jesus’ parables anew.


Saturday Morning Book Forum


The focus of the Saturday Morning Book Forum is to identify, reduce, and eliminate racism in all forms. For about an hour on Saturday morning (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) we discuss what we’ve read and identify what it means for us today. Beginning in September 2026, together we will study ‘Where Do We Go From Here – Chaos or Community’, written by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It is a wonderful way to learn to practice love to our neighbor, no matter who they are.

Lutheranism 101

& Communion Workshop


Held periodically, Lutheranism 101 helps those who want to understand the beliefs, doctrine, and application of the ELCA Lutheran tradition more deeply. Also held as required, the Communion Workshop provides instruction on what Communion actually is, the biblical basis for it, and why we practice and open table (Communion which is available to all.)
