"growing
in christ; going for christ"
God must love diversity, because God's world and God's church reflect so much of it. We
the members of Christ Lutheran Church have one wonderful thing in common - our acceptance
of the love of God as it has come to us in Jesus Christ. To use the New Testament's words,
ours is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism;" but, beyond that, lies a delightful
variety.
While the diversity keeps things alive and exciting among us, it is what we have in
common as a fellowship of believers that gives us both identity and purpose. Our shared
faith is the source of our vision, that vision being not only to concern ourselves with
our own nurture and growth, both individually and collectively, but also to be intentional
about becoming more and more "a people for others," and to add time, energy, and
resources to our intent.
And so, while the congregation's Mission Statement and "Vision" reflect a
real concern for providing opportunities for vital, creative, and Christ-centered worship,
a rich variety of Word-anchored learning experiences, and "a warm, open, supportive
fellowship"; they also include a resolve to witness to Jesus Christ in the
surrounding community by "sacrificially servicing, supporting, and caring for those
in need" and by "proclaiming by deed as well as by word the unconditional love
of God."
Christ Lutheran Church is a part of the Southeast Michigan Synod of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America, and embraces the Synod's own theme, which is "On the Way
Together (Unity, Risk & Service)." Could our "together" soon include
you?
